Psilocybin Facilitator in Oregon: Relationship-Focused Support for Midlife and Beyond
Growth and healing for individuals and couples in midlife
Psilocybin-Assisted Support in Oregon
For personal growth, emotional clarity, and stronger relationships in midlife
& beyond
Psilocybin is more than a catalyst for insight. It’s a powerful amplifier of who we are beneath the noise. In the right conditions, with the right facilitator, the experience can help you reconnect with yourself, heal old emotional patterns, and see your relationships through a clearer, more compassionate lens.
I’m Karin Calde, Ph.D., a licensed psilocybin facilitator in Oregon, specializing in relational, emotional, and life-transition-focused work with adults in midlife and beyond. My approach blends evidence-based psychology, Internal Family Systems (IFS), somatic support, and a grounded respect for the sacredness of this work.
People come to me when they are ready to shift something meaningful — their relationship with themselves, with their partner, with their past, or with the next chapter of their life
Why People Seek Psilocybin Support
Clients I work with often describe:
A sense of disconnect from themselves or their partner
Emotional patterns they can’t think their way out of
Stress, depression, or anxiety that feels tied to life transitions
Old wounds resurfacing (family, betrayal, identity, aging)
A desire to understand the deeper truth of their relationships
A longing for clarity, perspective, or direction
Psilocybin, when held with intention and care, creates a unique window into these deeper layers. It quiets rigid thought loops, reduces default mode network activity, and increases emotional openness and neuroplasticity. These are the ingredients for genuine insight and lasting change.
Research Shows:
-
psilocybin increases emotional regulation and empathy (Barrett et al., 2020)
-
enhances cognitive flexibility and perspective-taking (Mason et al., 2021)
-
reduces rumination and self-critical patterns (Carhart-Harris et al., 2017)
-
supports improved interpersonal connection (Stauffer et al., 2022; Kruger et al., 2022)
After a journey, clients often report that they feel more confident and at ease in their relationships and feel more accepting of themselves.
A Relational, Grounded Approach, Backed by Science and Experience
My work sits at the intersection of psychology, meditation, relational intelligence, and the latest research on psychedelics.
What this looks like:
- IFS-informed preparation to help ease your self-critic and increase self-compassion
- Meditation and/or breath practices to strengthen your inner stability
- Trauma-sensitive support
- Relational and communication insights for couples or individuals
- Integration coaching that helps insights become lasting change
The science provides the foundation; your experience provides the truth. My role is to support you with clarity and compassion.
Who I Work With
Although my background includes specialization with midlife women and couples, I’ve come to work with people across a wider spectrum. If you’re someone who values introspection, personal responsibility, compassion, and meaningful growth, we will likely work well together. Many of those I work with include:
- Individuals navigating midlife transitions
- Women who want to work with someone who has a deep understanding of how hormones in perimenopause and menopause interact with psilocybin
- Older men exploring emotional depth, purpose, grief, or relationship questions
- Couples wanting to better understand each other or deepen their connection
- Those at a crossroads: retirement, divorce, empty nesters, family transitions, spiritual searching, those searching for their purpose
- People who've tried therapy but feel something deeper is calling
The Psilocybin Experience with Me
STEP 1: Preparation (2-3 sessions)
In addition to asking you about your medical and mental health background, I explain what a psilocybin experience is like for people and how to cope when and if difficulties arise. I provide ample opportunity to ask questions, voice your concerns, and develop trust. We build:
- emotional safety
- clarity of intentions
- meditation skills (optional)
- nervous system grounding
- an understanding of your interval landscape (often using Internal Family Systems – IFS)
- discuss my dosing recommendation
A note on meditation: I offer simple, accessible practices that can help your journey feel more spacious, less overwhelming, and more rewarding — but meditation is optional. No prior experience is needed.
STEP 2: The Psilocybin Journey (one full day)
Held at a licensed Oregon service center in Portland, Oregon. You receive:
- a personalized experience in a private room designed for psychedelic journeys
- my safe, attuned, non-judgmental, grounded presence
- somatic and meditative support
- a blend of science-backed protocols and intuitive guidance
- a space where all parts of you are accepted and welcome
The experience is yours; I’m there to help you move through it safely and meaningfully.
STEP 3: Integration (one session; second session is optional and more can be added)
Together we explore:
- the story of your journey
- emotional insights
- the changes you want to make in your life given your insights
- practices that can help your insights take root
- how you can extend and deepen the benefits of your experience
This is where “a powerful experience” becomes “a powerful change.”
Common Questions
Does psilocybin help with relationship issues?
Often, yes. Research show increases in empathy, emotional openness, sexual functioning and satisfaction, and improved interpersonal connection. Many clients experience relational insights even when that wasn’t their initial intention.
Do you work with couples?
Yes. Oftentimes it’s more helpful to have individual journeys, but sometimes joint sessions can be appropriate. I work with couples committed to understanding each other more deeply and creating a more connected, conscious relationship.
Do older men work with you?
Frequently! Many older men report that the combination of my warm, accepting presence, emotional clarity, and relational insight feels safe and accessible.
Do I have to mediate to work with you?
Not at all. Meditation is optional. If you’re open to it, even a few simple practices developed over even just a three weeks can make the journey feel more easeful and emotionally grounded, but it’s never a requirement.
Is this therapy?
No. Psilocybin facilitation in Oregon is not psychotherapy. My background includes a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, relationship coaching, IFS training, somatic skill-building, and psilocybin facilitation. I bring those skills into a non-clinical, supportive role. I do highly recommend that you have a therapist that you can contact following your journey in case you want more therapeutically-oriented support after your journey.
What if I’m not interested in focusing on my relationships?
People come to me with a wide range of concerns and interests, including relief from depression and anxiety, PTSD, alcohol abuse, OCD, chronic pain, and a desire to feel better about themselves. I appreciate the variety in my work with clients.
My personal psilocybin journey
I was in my late 40s when I had my first psilocybin experience. While I was really nervous that first time, I had a beautiful journey that made me feel connected to and supported by everything and everyone in the universe. I was at the beginning of a divorce and it helped anchor me during that time; my experience served as a reminder that everything was going to be okay.
If you fee a pull to do this work...
…you don’t have to know exactly what you need, only that something in you is ready to move, heal, or understand. I’d be honored to walk with you through this process.
Psilocybin is not for everyone, but it might be right for you. Only you can ultimately make that decision. I will never push you or try to convince you to schedule a psilocybin session.
